With A kick

Yerba Mate contains:
Caffeine (sometimes called mateine): A central nervous system (CNS) stimulant, having the effect of warding off drowsiness and restoring alertness.
Theophylline: It is often used as a drug in therapy for respiratory diseases. It relaxes bronchial smooth muscle, and can increase blood pressure and renal blood flow.
Theobromine:Is the primary alkaloid found in cocoa and chocolate, and is one of the causes for the mood-elevating effects of chocolate. In medicine, it is used as a diuretic, vasodilator, and myocardial stimulant.

Yerba Mate (Ilex paraguariensis) is a small tree native to the subtropical Atlantic forests of Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. This evergreen member of the holly family was introduced to modern civilizations by the indigenous Guarani of Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. An infusion, brewed from the dried leaves and stems of the tree, is consumed by millions of South Americans as a healthful alternative to coffee. Deemed “The Drink of the Gods” by many indigenous groups in South America and “the green gold of the Indios” by Europeans, yerba mate possesses a multitude of health benefits that have begun to attract the attention of American scientists and consumers

They use it to boost immunity, cleanse and detoxify the blood, tone the nervous system, restore youthful hair color, retard aging, combat fatigue, stimulate the mind, control the appetite, reduce the effects of debilitating disease, reduce stress, and eliminate insomnia.
